A big 'thank you' should go out to The Directors: Kevin, Mike, David, Deborah, Nigel and Phil for dealing with this issue so diligently. I'm sure that you are all aware in particular of the amount of work that Kevin has personally put in on the club's behalf here. He won't admit it but it's been the source of much mither and concern for him. You know that I'm bias, I love the little f*cker, but, if you're inclined, please make sure that you give him a little kiss and a cuddle next time you pass him in the corridor; I know from personal experience how much he enjoys tactile affirmation.
The club seems a happier place to me these days, a calmer more contented staff with a focussed management style who have nowt but the betterment of the club in mind.
Onwards and upwards...
Dear Fellow Members,
I am pleased to announce that we have today reached an out of court settlement with David Stamp.
Our barrister assured us that our position was robust and that we had a high probability of winning the case, however there is always a risk of litigation.
Without the admission of liability, we have agreed to pay Mr Stamp £3,000 in full and final settlement of all claims arising out of his employment and its termination. This is positioned against his claim for £58,596 (of which £1,671 has already been paid).
I am also pleased to say that thanks to Ian Boardman, a former member of the Club, the barrister’s charges have been waived. As a result, we will be writing back to this year’s accounts £2,000, since we had made a provision of £5,000.
I would personally like to thank the Board who have remained professional and dedicated to the Club throughout and also to members (including many who signed the EGM petition) who have provided their support, guidance and gratitude.
Kevin Mears
Chairman
I fully concur with the need to give the little chap a pat in the back. I know that David’s role had become redundant but I can add that since his departure there have been HUGE improvement in the running of the club in terms of new initiatives to get better court bookings, to attract and retain members, to make the club a more relaxed and pleasant place. Above all in improving the club finances after years of a downward spiral.
ReplyDeleteReally well done the Directors and Kevin

Here here to the above comment.
ReplyDeleteI found the club under David Stamp depressing and directionless. Holding the title of General Manager and receiving the pay and benefits he received, he did nothing to further the future of the club which was his job. In my opinion he is lucky to receive anything.
The club is now a forward looking, on a sound financial basis, and enjoys a much happier atmosphere.
Well done to Kevin and all the Directors who have contributed.
WKP
And thanks to Ian Boardman too...
