Welcome. This is an unofficial blog for Beaconsfield squash club.
Here you'll be able to access info about team matches, keep tabs on divisional positions,
and get updates on squash and racketball events and any forthcoming social activity.
It could also be the place to start (and end) rumours, and indulge in healthy banter.
There's bound to be the odd thing that offends; but that's alright isn't it, us being adults?
If you're truly miffed just email me and I'll remove the offending article.
You'll also be able to post a blog yourself; I am your host so, simply email me your piece/rant/match report/poetry/recipe for tripe to:
trev@lisacottage.demon.co.uk
I'll put it up 'in the cloud' and folk will then be able to comment or heckle...
So come on, email your pieces or add your comments below what is already posted there.

Bulls, Lions, Super 2nds Results (8/9 Nov)

Bulls Back on Top.

Bulls v Holmer Green 3 (8/11/11)

The Bulls faced Holmer Green 3rds in a battle of the 'duffers'; both teams were currently without a win and taking it in turns to prop up the division. Something had to give:
(Please note that these notes are taken from the 'Camels' notes (left) and his notation is notably unreadable therefore there may be one or two names of note mis-spelt. Take note Camel)

Matalie Nochin v Andrew Ginger
Natalie started at a cracking pace; Mr Ginger just couldn't get in front of her to even attempt returning her fantastic drops. In the 2nd Nat made the mistake of trying to slog it out with an old slogger, but returned to winning ways in the 3rd and 4th; her class was just too much for the old buffer...
(3-1)

Jam Cooper v Nick Bosterdy
Coops came to this game with a sackful after his dynamic performance last week, but just couldn't get going against the aptly named Nick; a canny old boy who was so laid back that he took time off between games to share a fag with 'Big Bird' in the dark side of the car park. Nick bamboozled our boy; just sucked the energy out of Jim's game leaving him demoralized and frustrated.
(0-3)

Jan Piggw v Lol Parsley
Ian hurt his foot in a ballet dancing incident last week and was retarded and hopping mad. The rally count was high, the quality low; lots of thrashing and gnashing of teeth with Piggin diggin' in for a creditable but ugly win.
(3-2)

Trevur Junes v Chris Waitols
I'd played Chris last year and tonked him, different story this term as his wristy flicks floored me.
It went to the 5th and Chris desperate and tired started trying to play the man instead of ball, looking for cheap strokes; luckily Natalie is a disciple of mine when it comes to marking and resisted his pathetic pleadings.
(3-2)

NicolMWeil v Dan Prooor
Best for last; the Camel was awesome; his slow/slow/quick/quick/slow rhythm, deadly accurate lobs and wristy drops totally befuddled poor Dan who just wanted to run and hit the ball hard. The Camel was unusually focussed in his self assesment:
"Ah, yes, no, erm, rumours that my game, like my personality, is paper thin have been proven to be unfounded. I never fold.  In fact I would go as far as to say that I am, erm, unfoldable. Yes, erm, no really, you know, I think that indubitably..." etc etc....
(3-0)

Super 2nds v Chesham Bois Juniors
Match report: Gareth Ashington

Dan v Tom Paine - an easy 3-0. I didn't see but I understand that Tom's body language matched his very gentle shots and the big, hairy a*sed Dan took him apart in 20 mins or so.
(Dan says: "Cheeky f****r Ashington. I answer your plea for help, over pay the match fee and you are rude about my quality display. I think you meant to say - 'it was a rare privilege to have enjoyed the fine court craft of our honourable club capt as he deftly dealt with a youngster clearly deemed for future greatness. PS: If there is a larger arsed team player than you l can't name him ......or her".
Gareth Replies: "Dan, I didn't have you down as the sensitive type?!  Let's not have a arse measuring contest, it might a tight one! Gareth x")

Chris v Tom Ormiston - 3-1 to Chris. Tom who had been off sick the day before took the first game but was then spent and for the first time we saw Chris, drop, lob and tease Tom and his decreasing puff into efficient submission!

Gareth v Simon Clark - reports of my demise (my latest demise) have once again been exaggerated and I won 3-0. From 6-0 down in the 2nd game and with Bob's marking going in my favour I was able to win this game and close out the 3rd.

Ollie v Tim Leslie Smith - Ollie answered a last minute call to play. Thank you. I didn't see the game but Ollie took the match 3-2 and looked knackered afterwards.

Bob v Dave Jordan. Bob won 3-2 against a 20 year old, Bob being almost 3 times his age. Bob's was the effort of the night, he literally gave 100%. Spent after 2 games he carried on from memory and took the last game 9-2.

So we beat them 5-0 and 19-5 and sit at the top of the league, at least for now!

'Dirty' Dan Smugly Salutes his Pride of Lions

Lions v Holmer Green (9/11/11)

Match Report: Dirty

The Lions faced Holmer Green last night in a 'coulda shoulda' kind of match'. We shoulda be higher up the table if we could get out a consistent team; and they coulda won the league last year and are potential winners this season.
Anyway onto the performances....

At 5, Magic was in again bouncing around v Mark IronMan Mellet who looked even more 'ream' (shame about his court craft). 9-0 to Toby, then 2-9, so unsure how the next games were to play out. As it happened two very tight games of Toby trying to hit winners and MM defending well, with Mark winning both 8-10, 8-10. Shame we didn't get a th as Tobes was still in with a shout.
(1-3)

At 4, I was up against Ben Sheldon in a ground hog day match having played him last month for 2nds. Then I duffed him up for a handful of points. Yesterday looked like a repeat as won 1st 9-2, then went walk about losing next two as he played more and more risky late flicky type drops from deep catching my slowing legs out. However normal service resumed as I adopted a CK/Camel approach by lobbing everything and won 5th with room to spare.
(3-2)

Nic was on fire at 3 playing the dangerous James Hartley, who runs and runs and his strokes are improving. After a long hard 1st rally I thought Nic would be in trouble, however, he fired in some quality winners forcing the error of which there were many as James also made many unforced errors. No contest 9-2, 9-0, 9-0.
(3-0)

At two Mark was also on top form playing Tor (I'd rather be a Lion than a Bok) Stockdale. Tor is playing more, is incredibly fast but still plays a counter attacking style of game. Mark was too strong moving him around and despite many shots coming back Mark was able to manoeuvre into a position to hit the winner. 9-2, 9-6, 9-0.
(3-0)

Paul Boyle was up at 1 playing Alex Hartley. In the knock-up it looked like it would be no contest but Alex is deceptively fast and accurate. After a tightish 1st with long rallies and winners from both players Paul moved up a gear and won 3-0, 9-6, 9-4, 9-2.
(3-0)

So an excellent 17-5 (4-1) victory. Our record to-date P7 W4 L3, so sitting 3rd/4th in table. We play them again next week in the away match when we will have a different (probably weaker team out) and HG maybe stronger.
Over dinner everyone was keeping their powder dry over team selection so who knows.....
